Anita Earls Wins North Carolina Supreme Court Race

DURHAM, N.C. – Anita Earls has been elected to the North Carolina Supreme Court.

As an attorney in North Carolina, Earls has been a champion for justice, taking on multiple cases central to protecting communities and the environment in North Carolina. Friends of the Earth Action endorsed Earls in September.

In the weeks leading up to the election, Friends of the Earth Action members and volunteers texted over 19,500 voters and called over14,500 voters in North Carolina, encouraging them to vote for Earls.

In response to Earls’ victory tonight, Erich Pica, President of Friends of the Earth Action, issued the following statement:

Tonight, North Carolina voters have cast their vote for a justice who will dedicate herself to justice for all. As the newest member of the state Supreme Court, Anita Earls will be a steadfast public servant, dedicated to the rule of law and the principle of equality.

Earls’ tireless campaign will guarantee North Carolina’s judiciary remains independent, despite partisan attacks. Friends of the Earth Action endorsed Earls because she will be steadfast in ensuring justice will be fair and impartial, no matter who appears before the court.
