National Environmental Groups Endorse Clarence Lam in Maryland Race

WASHINGTON — Today, Friends of the Earth Action, Oil Change U.S. and the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund announced their joint endorsement of State Senator Clarence Lam for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional district. The organizations join Food & Water Action, which endorsed Senator Lam on February 1, 2024. The Maryland primary will be held on May 14, 2024.

“As the leader in the fight to ban the toxic pesticide chlorpyrifos in Maryland, we’re thrilled to endorse Senator Lam to be the next representative for the 3rd Congressional district. He has been a tireless champion for the environment, protecting our climate and ensuring that our vulnerable citizens are protected from pollution, and would be a breath of fresh air for the next Congress,” said Brett Hartl, National Political Director at the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund.

“Dr. Clarence Lam’s unwavering commitment to championing climate and environmental justice in the Maryland legislature is proof that he prioritizes the well-being of his constituents above Big Oil’s profits. In Congress, he will undoubtedly carry this legacy of bold advocacy for the health and safety of his community and the climate forward. Oil Change U.S. is thrilled to endorse Lam to represent Maryland District 3,” said Allie Rosenbluth, Political Director at Oil Change U.S

“We’re proud to endorse Dr. Clarence Lam, a bold climate champion, to represent the people of Maryland’s 3rd Congressional district,” said Ariel E. Moger, Government and Political Affairs Director at Friends of the Earth Action. “Senator Lam will not hesitate to take on Big Oil and protect communities from harmful pollution, toxic pesticides, and the catastrophic threat of LNG exports. We urgently need more leaders in Congress who will put communities over polluter profits, which is why we strongly encourage Marylanders to support Senator Lam in the May primary.”
