Climate voters must reject RFK Jr.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is not an environmentalist. He is a dangerous conspiracy theorist and science denier whose agenda would be a major threat to our communities and the planet. Any support for RFK Jr. is essentially handing the White House back to Donald Trump, who is committed to rolling back vital efforts in the fight against climate change.

RFK Jr. was thrilled at the prospect of joining Trump’s first administration, which was a disaster for people and the planet:
- FACT: Trump’s first administration dismantled major climate policies and rolled back more than 100 rules governing clean air, water, wildlife and toxic chemicals.
- FACT: If he wins a second term, Trump’s agenda is expected to be guided by the conservative Heritage Foundation, whose “Project 2025” vision calls for disbanding the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and the Clean Energy Corps, and eviscerating existing climate programs while increasing our reliance on fossil fuels.
- FACT: Trump himself has vowed to approve a glut of new gas export terminals currently paused by President Biden and roll back electric vehicle mandates.
RFK Jr.’s science denialism undermines efforts to address the climate crisis and promotes conspiracy theories that he pushes for his personal profit.
- FACT: RFK Jr. claims the EPA is “run by the oil industry,” yet he collects tens of thousands of dollars every year from the very oil and gas companies he denounces.
- FACT: RFK Jr. alleges “climate change is being used to control us through fear” and says regulations aimed at reducing harmful emissions amounts to “totalitarian controls,” echoing Donald Trump’s own sensational rhetoric.
- FACT: RFK Jr.’s campaign is staffed with vocal climate change deniers. His communications director called global warming “an enslavement system” and claimed climate advocates are seeking a “climate change lockdown.”
RFK Jr. is a hypocrite. He claims to be an environmentalist, yet he takes anti-environmental stances when it personally benefits him.
- FACT: RFK Jr.’s platform includes radical digital currency policies that would lead to a significant increase in the use of Bitcoin, which consumes an enormous amount of energy and produces vast quantities of carbon emissions. Despite originally claiming he was not an investor in cryptocurrency, RFK Jr.’s financial disclosures revealed that he held hundreds of thousands of dollars in Bitcoin, meaning he could financially benefit from his own crypto platform that includes exempting Bitcoin from capital gains taxes.
- FACT: RFK Jr. joined the Koch Brothers in opposing a wind farm near his family’s waterfront compound that would have produced enough electricity to meet nearly 75 percent of demand on Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard. Despite major environmental groups supporting the project, RFK Jr. opposed the wind far in part because it would “damage the views.”
