Friends of the Earth Action Responds to Donald Trump’s 2024 Campaign Announcement

WASHINGTON – Today, Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. 

Ariel E. Moger, Government and Political Affairs Manager at Friends of the Earth Action, issued the following statement: 

We are disturbed but not surprised that Trump is running for president, again. The American people resoundingly rejected him and his toxic agenda in 2020 and now 2022, but he clearly didn’t take the hint.  

Trump’s attempted coup and election-denying rhetoric shows his sights are set on destroying American democracy. While the recent midterm election was a major setback for him and his extremist enablers, we should not rest easy. The Trump cult will stop at nothing to gain back power. 

Four years of chaos and corruption under Trump, coupled with the global pandemic, have been exhausting enough. The Republican Party has wholeheartedly adopted Trump’s dangerous attacks on our environment, human rights, and election integrity. We are still trying to dig ourselves out of the mess made by him and his party. 

We urge the American people to once again renounce fascism and refuse to vote for this dangerous fraud and megalomaniac.
