2018 Get Out the Vote

Donald Trump’s enablers in Congress are destroying our communities and environment at every turn. They’re letting his corrupt administration poison our air and water while gutting protections for our public lands. They’re attacking the Endangered Species Act. And they confirmed Brett Kavanaugh for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.

The best way to fight back is to kick these GOP extremists out of office — both in Congress and in statewide races. And with less than three weeks before the election, now is the critical moment to get involved.

At Friends of the Earth Action, we’re mobilizing volunteers and voters across the country to elect six progressive champions:

Dana Balter (NY-24)

Dana Balter is the progressive champion we need fighting for our environment and for our futures. She is leading the charge in the fight for 100% renewable energy. She isn’t afraid to take on Trump’s corrupt, anti-environment agenda. And she’s campaigned for Medicare for All, a broad list of environmental protections, and criminal justice reform.

Ammar Campa-Najjar (CA-50)

Ammar Campa-Najjar is the champion we need in Congress fighting for bold action against climate change. He wants to transition to 100% renewable energy and ban offshore drilling in federal waters. What’s more, he spoken out for comprehensive immigration reform and Medicare for All.

Ammar is running for Congress in California’s 50th district against one of the most corrupt members of Congress, Duncan Hunter, who is currently under indictment for using his campaign funds as a personal checking account. We need progressive champions in Congress who will stand up to corruption and special interests, and we know Ammar is that champion.

Call for Ammar Campa-Najjar with us on Saturday, Nov 3 from 6:30-8:30 pm Eastern | 3:30-5:30 pm Pacific

Leslie Cockburn (VA-05)

Leslie Cockburn is a pipeline fighter who has pledged to combat the Mountain Valley and Atlantic Coast pipelines, which would destroy Virginia’s environment and harm local communities. She’s spoken out for land conservation and further empowering the EPA to stop Big Polluters. And she has refused donations from PACs and corporations – including Dominion Energy.

Leslie’s opponent is a Tea Party candidate who has never held public office before. With Virginia on the front lines of so many fights to stop fossil fuel expansion, we can’t let this seat go to the GOP.

Ben Jealous (MD Governor’s)

Ben Jealous has spent his life fighting for environmental justice, and as governor he’ll continue fighting for the people of Maryland. If elected, he will address climate change, create green jobs and put Maryland on a path to 100% clean energy.

Ben’s opponent – governor Larry Hogan — is working to expand fracked-gas infrastructure and gas combustion across the state, even after Maryland banned fracking. It’s never been more important to elect a progressive champion as Maryland’s next governor.

Andrew Gillum (FL Governor’s)

Andrew Gillum is a progressive through and through. He is calling for higher corporate taxes, greater gun control, Medicare for All and more. Additionally, he opposes offshore drilling and fracking and is pushing for Florida to become a leader in renewable energy.

Gillum would be the first black governor in Florida, and the first Democratic governor in two decades. And between toxic red tide, toxic algae blooms, and increasingly frequent and devastating storms, the environment is definitely on the ballot this year in Florida. This is our chance to help elect a true progressive in Florida.

Anita Earls (NCSC)

Protecting clean drinking water. Expanding clean energy. Slowing down climate change. That’s what Anita Earls is fighting for – and that’s why we need her on the North Carolina Supreme Court. As a civil rights litigator, Anita has fought for environmental justice. In addition, she’s ready to continue her fight for civil rights and voting rights on the state Supreme Court.
