Rep. DeFazio’s campaign declares he does not support Jordan Cove LNG terminal

EUGENE, ORE. – In a letter to campaign supporters sent on Saturday, U.S. Representative Peter DeFazio’s (D-Ore.) campaign declared that he does not support the Jordan Cove LNG terminal. The letter, which is signed by the candidate, is the first time DeFazio has opposed the proposed LNG facility.

In response to the letter from Rep. DeFazio’s campaign, Gabrielle Raviolo, Oregon grassroots organizer at Friends of the Earth Action, issued the following statement:

Community members across Oregon have been fighting the proposed Jordan Cove Export Terminal and Pacific Connector Pipeline for over a decade. Countless grassroots anti-pipeline protesters and organizations have been pressuring Rep. DeFazio to admit this is a horrible project for months. Rep. DeFazio’s letter means that one more public official is finally willing to admit that the Jordan Cove Energy Project would be an environmental disaster for the people of Oregon and that it needs to be stopped.
