FOE Action endorses Catherine Cortez Masto for U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Friends of the Earth Action today announced its endorsement of Catherine Cortez Masto, of Nevada, to replace Senator Harry Reid in the U.S. Senate.

Friends of the Earth Action President Erich Pica issued the following statement:

In her role as Nevada Attorney General, Catherine Cortez Masto has made invaluable contributions towards a healthy and just world. Cortez Masto has played critical roles in fights like halting the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository project and winning a $1 billion settlement for the State of Nevada from Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for polluting Lake Mead. She is committed to growing a clean energy economy that doesn’t leave average Americans behind. Cortez Masto has been a fierce protector of Nevadans and their public lands — we need her to do the same thing in the U.S. Senate. We are proud to endorse Catherine Cortez Masto in her campaign and we welcome the opportunity to champion her work for racial justice as the first Latina senator.
