National Groups Endorse Progressive Environmental Leaders in Virginia State Races

WASHINGTON — A coalition of national conservation and environmental justice groups announced today its joint endorsement of seven progressive environmental champions running in Virginia’s June 20th, 2023 primary elections.

The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund, Food & Water Action, Friends of the Earth Action, Lead Locally, Oil Change U.S., and Zero Hour are endorsing:

“Whether it’s fighting against the Mountain Valley Pipeline, defending Virginia’s role in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, or standing up to price gouging from monopolistic utilities, these candidates have all demonstrated a commitment to tackling the climate crisis, protecting our environment and advancing environmental justice,” said Brett Hartl, national political director at the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund. “Our organizations are thrilled to be endorsing these candidates, who will become Virginia’s next generation of leaders.”

Friends of the Earth (Action), Inc. fights for transformational environmental policy and pushes political discourse to center justice and the environment. Friends of the Earth (Action), Inc. is the 501(c)(4) affiliate of Friends of the Earth U.S., but these organizations’ names are not interchangeable.
