Friends of the Earth Action and LCV Action Fund Endorse Jon Ossoff for Congress

WASHINGTON, DC — Friends of the Earth (FOE) Action and the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund today jointly announced their endorsements of Jon Ossoff for Congress (GA-6) in the April 18 special election. The seat was previously held by Republican Representative Tom Price, who resigned to become Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Ossoff will be a champion for clean energy development in Georgia and for protecting our air, land and water in Congress.

“The work Jon Ossoff has done to expose corporate corruption and speak truth to power on Capitol Hill shows he is the strong progressive champion Georgia needs,” said FOE Action President Erich Pica. “As Donald Trump and his Congressional enablers attack environmental protections, we must send a champion for public health and the environment to Washington. Ossoff is committed to clean air, clean water, and conservation of America’s natural places and FOE Action is proud to endorse him to be the next Congressman representing Georgia’s 6th District.”

“Jon Ossoff is an exciting new leader in the South and we are thrilled to support him,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “With climate deniers like Donald Trump in the White House and Scott Pruitt helming the EPA and a Congress beholden to big polluter interests, it is more critical than ever that we elect independent and forward-thinking people like Jon Ossoff who will stand up for public health and good-paying clean energy jobs.”

“I’m honored by these endorsements,” said Jon Ossoff. “When I go to Washington, I will be informed by scientists, not lobbyists, when it comes to environmental policy, and I will work to make Georgia a clean energy economic powerhouse.”

Ossoff was born and raised in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District. He worked on Capitol Hill for U.S. Representatives Hank Johnson (GA-4) and John Lewis (GA-5)—both environmental champions— focusing on national security issues. In 2013, Ossoff became the managing partner and CEO of Insight TWI, a small investigative production company targeting corrupt public officials and organized crime for international news organizations, including producing an investigative piece on the connection between political corruption and illegal logging in Sierra Leone that is threatening to destroy the country’s endangered forests within a decade. In Congress, he will prioritize commonsense protections for clean air and water, including the Chattahoochee River.

Ossoff is featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions for federal office.
