Friends of the Earth Responds to Inauguration of Donald Trump

WASHINGTON – Today Donald Trump was sworn in for a second term as president of the United States, promising immediate executive actions that would further devastate our climate and communities, just weeks after massive wildfires in California. The second Trump administration brings with it massive corporate handouts at the expense of human health, federal agency mandates, public lands and civil society.

Erich Pica, President of Friends of the Earth U.S., said this:

Today begins a presidential administration bought and controlled by billionaires who enrich themselves while polluting and pillaging the health, rights and livelihoods of all of us. Trump’s corporate-loving, pay-to-play regime will attack critical rules, agencies and organizations that protect people and the planet from being exploited by the powerful.

Friends of the Earth will fight tirelessly against Trump’s agenda to harm people and communities. We believe everyone has the right to a safe and healthy environment, and that people power will ultimately prevail.  It’s time for us all to stand together to ensure our country has a future and our world has a livable planet.
